Shoes

You know you may have too many shoes when you open a box and wonder where that pair came from...happened today with a pair of pink slides. They are real cute but I have not worn them yet...can't even remember buying them :)

I guess I should sign up for Shoe Lovers Anonymous. I only have about 50 pair of shoes. But if I really have too many shoes, how come I can never find the perfect pair to wear with my outfits?

First Day of Classes

Today was the first day of Fall classes. I have three classes this semester since I am trying to push through and get my degree so I can move away from Cancer Center (E-ville is situated between two polluting factories and a coal burning energy factory) as soon as possible. Three classes is full-time status for a grad student so I expect to be busy, busy, busy.

Today I went to my "Leadership in Business" class. The first person I see when I walk into the classroom is one of my partners from my horrid Marketing class. I say a silent pray that we will not have group work (almost all grad classes do) or that I will not have to work with her again.

We do have group work but luckily the professor let's us pick our groups. Each group has to do a paper and presentation on a leadership book and a paper analyzing a leader in today's society. We get to pick our book but the professor assigned us our leader. Groups were assigned people like Gandhi, Bill Gates, Jimmy Carter (my favorite former President!). And who, you may ask, did I get assigned...none other than GEORGE W. BUSH! Ugh!

Isn't it bad enough that I have to live in a red state surrounded by conservative Nazis? Now I have to analyze W's "leadership" skills for a grade!

Thankfully I like the professor. She seems really interested in the field she is teaching which is a plus since I have her for two of my three classes this semester.

Starbucks Heaven

When I first moved to Evansville, there were two Starbucks - one in the Casino and one in Barnes and Noble. Both were a good 20 minute drive away. In the last year, five Starbucks have been built and one of them is three miles away. This is a big deal - especially for someone who comes from the land of a Starbucks on every corner.

I typically get a soy 120 degree Caramel Macchiato (I still don't like to eat or drink things that are hot) but I am now addicted to their newest creation - a green tea frappucino. It is so good - you should go get yourself one...but be sure to have them leave off the whipped cream because it is just nasty.

Happy Birthday to me!

Today was my birthday and if you are the Queen Mum, it is your birthday too!

My friends Melissa and Heather flew out from California earlier this week and today we went jetskiing on the Ohio River. Yes, the Ohio River...it is polluted but jetskiing was a blast and I figure with a third arm I will be so much more efficient at everything!

We rented the jetskis from a guy named Oscar. He just opened his rental business about 6 weeks ago. Can you say "Oh my, what a hottie"?! Don't be looking at him...that's my future husband you are coveting ;)

We saw three dead fish (blame the pollution). Their noses looked like oars. No one knows what they were and Oscar said there are 140 types of fish in the Ohio. Apparently, this type doesn't do too well with rivers contaminated by human dumping. I got a pretty nasty sunburn (my shoulders never see the light of day) and there were only two boats that came by so I could jump their wakes. I definitely got some air though and would go again.

Later, we went to dinner with four of my coworkers at the Gersthouse (German food) and then went to Club Baja. It is supposed to be a dance club but there were like 25 people there. Water kept falling on me from the leaking roof - it was not raining so I don't know what that was all about. Heather was a trooper and went shot for shot with me. Melissa was the good friend and remained the designated driver. Those girls rock!

Humidity sucks and if you ask my boss, so do I!

Last week was beautiful. Nice 80 degree weather with little humidity unlike two weeks ago when it was like 90 percent humidity and 95 degrees. It is supposed to be nasty humid this week though today was nice.

They say humidity is good for you. It is supposed to make your skin soft. I say it gives me sinus headaches. I was working on some signs for my RAs and my glue stick had mold growing on it (a little Christina science experiment). You definitely never encounter that in California!

Think snow! Just a few more miserable months till winter is here!

Today I had a talking to at work. Actually, I was called into the office at 545pm (work day ends at 430) so my supervisor could ask me if I thought that she wasn't doing her job. Like did she want me to answer that?

We are short a staff member and I asked who would be picking up the extra responsibilities. Of course, the mismanagers claim to have worked out a contingency plan. Funny thing is when they announced who would pick up the extra work, MP looked so surprised - guess they forgot to fill him in.
